This horse presented with a recurrent painful eye with superficial ulceration and keratitis (inflammation of the cornea).
Basic treatment with topical eye drops had failed to resolve the condition.
On closer inspection under sedation a small eye lash growing in the wrong place was identified.
This is known as Trichiasis.
This was removed with forceps and the horse made a rapid recovery.
