  • Cat Friendly to the highest degree

    Posted on by Cat

Bringing your cat to the vet can be a stressful experience for both you and your cat. That’s why here at Towcester we decided last year to join the International Society of Feline Medicine and Surgery (ISFM)/International Cat Care’s (ICC) accreditation scheme to become a Cat Friendly Clinic. This scheme encourages veterinary clinics to make cats’ visits much less stressful and to cater for cats specifically within the clinic. In fact we are the only practice in Northamptonshire to gain the Gold Level – the highest standard there is. (We don’t like to do things by half!)

Why is being Cat Friendly important?

Cats have their own unique set of difficulties and challenges when it comes to going to the vet, the following is taken from the ICC website.

What does it mean to be Cat Friendly

The accreditation scheme is rigorous and ensures that all staff members including vets, nurses and receptionists adhere to the cat friendly ethos. This includes:

Clinics can be awarded a Silver or Gold level depending on a number of factors which are listed on the ICC website.

The standards are the same around the world – this should give you reassurance wherever you are.

All of this leads to a much better experience for cats and their owners, and a higher quality of care.

We are very proud at being Gold Standard Cat Friendly and would be happy to show you behind the scenes and discuss our Cat Friendly protocols with you.
