We all know children who have a natural affinity towards animals, children that dream of one day being like the vets that looks after all their pets, a potential budding young veterinarian. Well the CBBC series Junior Vets lets children experience just this and Towcester Veterinary Centre is lucky enough to be a part of their next educational series called “Junior Vets On Call”. There was much excitement as the film crew spent two days with all our teams last week.

So what is Junior Vets On Call all about?

Junior Vets on Call gives children between the age of nine and fourteen the challenge of a lifetime by putting them in the shoes of a vet. These junior vets get a chance to assist and follow small animal, large animal, Equine and Zoo vets through their day.

The junior vets spend the day guided by senior, qualified, vets, showing them what a normal day is like, through a very hand on experience. The junior vets get to help with real live cases and ask questions that they normally wouldn’t be able to. It is an amazing chance to see what could be a future career; inspiring children to get involved with something they love.

We had some interesting cases last week, and some great kids. We hope you’ll tune in to watch! We will let you know when the series is going to air – likely some time in the Autumn.
