Gut worms are causing lambs some serious problems at the moment – the exceptionally dry summer meant the pastures had very low burdens and any youngsters grazing were not able to develop their usual immunity to these worms.

The wet and mild November and start of December have allowed the worm numbers to increase on pasture and deaths are occurring – please keep a close eye on stock and report any deaths for a post mortem at the surgery or perform some faecal egg counts to check the burden in your flock.
