The gorgeous Dexter came in last week for a nose job- which, in this case, was not for cosmetic purposes!
As is common with many brachycephalic dogs and cats, Dexter suffers from a condition known as BOAS- brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome. Which at its simplest means that their nostrils can be very narrow, but can also include an overlong soft palate, a malformed larynx and a narrowed major airway.
Luckily for Dexter, a simple surgery to widen his nostrils has made him much happier and he is now snoring a lot less!
The top photo is of Dexter during the surgery and the second photo is him at his post-op check.
Please do not hesitate to contact our clinic to discuss BOAS with one of our vets if you think you’re pet may be affected. Our number is 01327 350239.
