The equine eye is prone to injury. Corneal ulcers, eyelid lacerations, and uveitis (inflammation of the eye) are the conditions we see most frequently. If the eye is swollen or closed or has a discharge associated with it, you should consider it an emergency. Please contact us immediately in order to speak directly with one of our vets or to arrange an examination. Some eye conditions are notoriously difficult to treat so the sooner a problem is dealt with the more likely the outcome will be favourable.
