Nursing Team

Victoria Hegarty

 Registered Equine Veterinary Nurse

Victoria also joined our practice in October 2013.  She has previously worked as a yard manager and as a nurse at Liphook Veterinary Hospital.  Victoria works closely with the equine vets to ensure the best standards of care are given to our inpatients and is also a keen rider holding her BHS Stage 4 so also assists with lameness workups/groundwork and riding. Victoria has a degree in Equine Sports Science and qualified to become a registered veterinary nurse in February 2017. In her spare time she enjoys riding her horse, Lenny, as well as home baking and being a keen photographer.

Freddie Herbert

Trainee Equine Veterinary Nurse

Freddie joined our Towcester practice as one of our customer service apprentices in June 2014, after completing her BTEC National Diploma in Animal Welfare at Moulton College. Whilst on our admin team, her role included organising the reporting of blood results, as well as booking in appointments.  Freddie has since moved onto our nursing team and is about to embark on gaining her qualifications to become a fully qualified nurse. She assists in all aspects of the daily routine at the clinic. In her spare time she enjoys running, as well as competing on her own horses.

Jane Kang

Trainee Equine Veterinary Technician

Jane initially trained as a human nurse and fascinated with medical technology, later became an electronics design engineer. This step took her into customer service consultancy, however, in April 2014 she joined Towcester Equine Vets to fulfil a long-held ambition to combine her passion for horses with her love of nursing. Her experience with horses is rooted in the racing and hunting world, however now Jane and her husband own 4 polo ponies and have been members of Rugby Polo Club based at Onley since it started 15 years ago. Away from horses, Jane holds a pilot’s licence, shoots and loves working her gun dogs. Jane will predominantly be based at Onley Equine Vets.

Otti Riganti

Nursing technician

Otti is originally from Florence in Italy and has been living in England now for over 4 years. He started with us in January 2017 with a variety of roles: our stallion handler and nursing assistant.  Otti has worked alongside horses for over 15 years, breaking in showjumping horses and pushing them through the levels right up until Grand Prix whilst based in Italy. He has also trained show jumpers, something he still does in his spare time. He also enjoys training in the gym and cooking— sometimes you will see his homemade tiramisu at Plum Park!

Alison Cousins

Nursing technician

Ali has recently joined us here at Towcester & Onley Equine Vets as a nursing assistant. She has held a long term love for horses having owned her own horse when younger, regularly hunting and taking part in hunter trials. More recently her love of horses has taken her cattle driving in Wyoming and on 2 national game census drives / safari on horseback in South Africa.

Ali will be spending time at both Onley and Towcester clinics and hopes to complete qualifications to become a Equine Veterinary Nurse.

Outside of work Ali spends her time riding Nelly, walking her 2 spaniels and spending time with family & friends.

Kathleen McKay

Nursing assistant

Kathleen moved here from South Africa to join our team in August 2018.

Her passion is caring for horses and helping to improve their health and quality of life; whilst with us she hopes to complete her qualifications to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

Kathleen has lots of equine experience! This includes managing a competition yard in South Africa, riding classical dressage on Lippizaner horses and competing in middle eastern endurance races.

During her spare time she enjoys going to the gym, swimming and cycling.
