Position 1: Full Time, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm Paulerspury/Towcester clinic

Position 2: Part-Time (average 23 hours per week), work pattern below – Weedon clinic

We are looking for a new receptionists to join our team!

At Towcester Vets we have been caring for the animals of Towcester and surrounding areas for over a century!  We are an independent mixed practice with our main small animal hospital in Towcester and further clinics located at Weedon and Paulerspury.  We are now inviting applications for the role of Veterinary Receptionist, a key role within the support function of our small animal business.

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals with a varied and challenging skillset. We pride ourselves on getting to know our clients well to enable us to offer a high level of service with a personal touch – they often use our veterinary services for many years, and we aim to provide consistency within our team to help build strong relationships.  Therefore, a passion for customer service is a must, both for our external clients and for our own clinical teams.

Position 1 is full-time and based mainly at our clinic in Paulerspury (with regular work at our main hospital in Towcester), answering incoming calls, booking appointments, meeting and greeting clients/potential clients coming into the clinic and working closely with the Vet and Nurse teams to ensure the smooth running of the day.  At Paulerspury you will work alone on reception, with the support of the wider team by phone.  Position 2 is part-time and based at our busy Weedon clinic working with our existing reception team of 4. Shift pattern is as follows: Week 1 – Mon 8:30-5:00, Tues 8:30-5:00, Thurs 9:00-1:00, Fri 8:30-1:30  Week 2 – Mon 8:30-5:00, Tues 9:00-5:00, Thurs 9:00-1:30

Strong IT skills are preferred (although we do not expect you to have knowledge of our system).  We have a busy and complex diary which, although planned, is constantly updated during the day as priorities change and emergencies arise.  Appointments taking longer than anticipated, clients arriving early or late, movement of equipment and clinical support can all add challenges that must be effectively managed and communicated to multiple people as situations change.  Your organisation skills will be tested on a daily basis.  You will also be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the non-clinical areas of our building and assisting the wider team with administrative tasks as required.

Between call-taking and dealing with clients you will have additional administrative responsibilities to manage, for example submitting referral requests, monitoring online bookings. All tasks will involve a high level of communication and liaising with clients and our own teams – so attention to detail, resilience, patience and the ability to have sometimes difficult discussions whilst remaining calm and professional will be needed.

Previous veterinary reception experience/medical reception experience is preferred but not essential, plus a proven track record in administration, customer service and strong IT skills.

Please ensure you are able to fulfil the shift pattern before making an application.

To be considered for this position please submit your CV plus a covering letter outlining why you are interested in joining our Practice, which role you would like to be considered for and your salary expectations and notice period to Sue Adams, HR Manager.
