Equine Veterinary Receptionist

Equine

21 days left

Paulerspury, Towcester

Part time (circa 26 hrs per week)

At Towcester Vets we have been caring for the animals of Towcester and surrounding areas for over a century!  We are an independent mixed practice, with equine facilities located at Paulerspury (just outside Towcester) and at Onley Equestrian Centre (Warwickshire).  We are now inviting applications for the role of Equine Veterinary Receptionist, a key role within the support function of our Equine business.

The position requires an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a varied and challenging skillset. We pride ourselves on getting to know our clients well to enable us to offer a high level of service with a personal touch – they often use our veterinary services for many years, and we aim to provide consistency within our team to help build strong relationships.  Therefore, a passion for customer service is a must, both for our external clients and for our own clinical teams.

You will be based on reception at our main clinic in Paulerspury, answering incoming calls plus overflow calls coming from our second equine clinic in Warwickshire.  You will meet and greet clients/potential clients coming into the clinic and work with the Vet and Nurse teams to ensure the smooth running of the day.

Strong knowledge of the geographical area we cover is preferred for this role.  We have a busy and complex diary which, although planned, is constantly updated during the day as priorities change and emergencies arise.  Appointments taking longer than anticipated, travel disruptions, movement of equipment and clinical support all add challenges that must be effectively managed and communicated to multiple people as situations change.  Your organisation skills will be tested on a daily basis.  You will also be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the non-clinical areas of our building and assisting the wider team with administrative tasks as required.

Between call-taking and dealing with clients you will have additional responsibilities to manage, for example riding school inspection booking and liaison, microchip paperwork and registering etc.  All tasks will involve a high level of communication and liaison with clients and our own teams – so attention to detail, resilience, patience and the ability to have sometimes difficult discussions whilst remaining calm and professional will be needed.

Previous veterinary reception experience or equine knowledge are needed to be successful in this role, plus a proven track record in administration, customer service and strong IT skills.

We have a preferred working pattern which will be discussed at interview and includes all day Friday, one Saturday morning in four and afternoons Monday-Thursday. Please ensure you are able to fulfil these shifts before making an application.

To be considered for this position please submit your CV plus a covering letter outlining why you are interested in joining our Practice, plus your salary expectations and notice period to Sue Adams, HR Manager
