She also gained extensive experience in equine anaesthesia; which she has a keen interest in, alongside internal medicine. Having grown up in Silverstone, Abi is looking forward to working closer to home and spending time with family and friends. Outside of work she enjoys baking, walking her Smooth Fox Terrier, Elphi, and scuba diving (but only in warmer waters!).

Gemma Kirk BVetMed MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Gemma graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2008 and has been in equine practice ever since. As a new graduate she worked for a branch of The Minster Equine Clinic in Doncaster. She then undertook an internship at The Arundel Equine Hospital in West Sussex where she looked after inpatients, carried out anaesthesia and was involved in lameness work ups and diagnostic imaging. Upon completion of her internship, she stayed on at Arundel for a further few years; initially as a hospital/ lameness assistant and then as part of the ambulatory and stud team.

Since 2013 Gemma has split time between Arundel and a role as a resident vet at Vinery Stud, Australia. Vinery is a large Thoroughbred farm that is home to around 500 horses and foals down 150-200 mares every year, so time spent here has served as good experience in all areas of equine reproduction and foal care, albeit rather busy at times!

Gemma is currently studying for her Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice and is helping out at Towcester over the busy summer period, between southern hemisphere breeding seasons.

Becky Price BVSc MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Becky joined the team in July 2016, after graduating from Bristol University. Being interested in all areas of equine practice, Becky felt that the internship position with us was a fantastic opportunity to explore and further develop her skill set. She will spend her time predominantly in the clinic, working alongside our experienced clinicians and playing a key role in our inpatient care. Whilst at University, Becky completed an externship at Rossdales, where she gained experience in a variety of areas including hospital, diagnostics and stud work. In her spare time, Becky enjoys spending time with family and friends, horse riding and travelling (whenever she gets the chance!).

Emma Marecki BVetMed MRCVS

Veterinary Intern

Emma has joined our team as a Veterinary Intern after graduating in 2016 from the Royal Veterinary College in London. After graduation she travelled to Nicaragua where she worked in an equine veterinary clinic for a month, gaining experience and helping a variety of working equines before going on to work in a small animal clinic. She then travelled to the USA where Western riding and barrel racing filled her time! Here in England she enjoys playing polo and eventing when she gets the chance.

Emma is particularly interested in the diagnostic imaging we use in clinic and how it can be used to diagnose lameness and aid with breeding services.

Manuela Slamanig MRCVS

Veterinary Intern

Manuela studied at the Veterinary University of Vienna and then worked in practice for a year in Germany and France. She then moved to Newmarket in England and became an assistant trainer at a racing yard for 2 years. Manuela has a keen interest in lameness and orthopaedic cases and has been working alongside our vets to develop her veterinary skills.

During her free time she enjoys riding racehorses in Newmarket and going hiking with her dog, Bella.
